Wellingborough (Midland Road) Railway Station
Wellingborough (Midland Road) Railway Station located some way out of the town centre to the east. It was built by the Midland Railway in late 1850s on the Midland Main Line. A second, later, LNWR station, Wellingborough London Road, closed in 1966 as part of the closure of the Northampton to Peterborough under Beaching . Much of the original building and its later nineteenth century additions survive, including the engine shed and other railway-related buildings. The station is well cared for and well worth the long walk from the town centre.
